Families: You Have What it Takes!
The Strengthening Families™ approach is all about supporting families in positive, meaningful ways. It focuses on building on a family’s strengths to help prevent child abuse and neglect by promoting the well-being of every family, not just those in crisis.
Backed by research and developed by the Center for the Study of Social Policy, this framework helps families recognize the tools they already have, and build new ones, to stay strong and resilient.
We work to engage families and our community in building the five protective factors.
The Strengthening Families™ Protective Factors Framework focuses on these five key areas that help families thrive:
-
Parental Resilience: You have faced a lot, and you are strong!
-
Knowledge of parenting and child development: You are the expert on your child!
-
Social Connections: You are supported!
-
Concrete Support in Times of Need: You can ask for help!
-
Social-Emotional Competence of Children: Your feelings matter and so do your child's!
