The Genesee County Great Start Collaborative is a team of caring families, educators, and community partners committed to giving young children in our community the best possible start in life.

The early years are full of big moments that shape a child’s future. We understand how important those first few years are, and we know that raising children takes love, time, and sometimes extra support.

But no one should have to do it alone. That’s why we bring families and the community together to make sure every child—and every parent—has the support they need. Because it truly takes a village to raise a child, and we are that village.

The Great Start Family Coalition is a group of dedicated families working together to make sure every voice in Genesee County is heard. We speak up for the needs of all children and families—because every child deserves to grow up safe, healthy, and ready to learn.

Through advocacy, education, and open communication, we help strengthen our community and create positive changes. When families unite, we can build a stronger future—for our children and for generations to come.

Members include people like you: parents, community members, service providers, schools, faith-based groups, childcare providers, health care organizations, philanthropic representatives, and business leaders. These individuals work as family and community members of the Great Start Collaborative and serve as Executive Team and/or Action Team members. These Great Start teams meet regularly to improve early childhood services.

Members of Genesee’s Great Start Collaborative understand that the early childhood years are crucial years in a child’s development. We know how important it is for each child to be safe, healthy, and ready to succeed in school and in life. We also know that sometimes it takes the support of the entire community to make that happen.
